Alaskan Fishing Lodges

There are numerous great fishing lodges in Alaska, so I decided to list a few. Each Alaska fishing lodge will have a web link which you can find by clicking the name. If you use one of the Alaska fishing lodges on my list please let me know how your trip went, in the comments below.

There are several advantages of staying at a fishing lodge in Alaska or anywhere else. You have a nice place to sleep with a good meal. You don’t have to worry about a bear eating your tent with you in it. And you have professional guides whose sole purpose is to help you catch more fish!

Gakona Lodge

The Gakona Lodge and Trading Post is located near Wrangell-St. Elias National Park in the Copper River Valley of Alaska. The Gakona Lodge appeals to me because of its historical significance, as I am a history buff. It has been around since 1904 and has 9 rooms. Depending on the time of year you can fish for salmon, trout, kings, reds and halibut. They can rent you all the equipment needed to float the rivers in search of your fish.

Alaska Lakeside Lodge

The Alaska Lakeside Lodge is on Lake Anderson in the Matanuska Valley. The lodge and surrounding scenery here is so beautiful that they even do weddings there. You will be in some fine salmon and halibut territory at this Alaskan lodge.

Kenai Jim’s Lodge

Kenai Jim’s is located on the Kenai River which is home to some monster salmon. Kenai Jim’s offers condominium style lodging for the Alaskan angler. They offer guided sport fishing trips for four people and fish for trout, halibut and of course salmon. The beautiful scenery alone is worth a visit to this Alaskan fishing lodge. You can bring your own fishing gear but the lodge will be happy to supply whatever you need.

Deshka Wilderness Lodge

The Deshka Wilderness Lodge is about 70 miles from Anchorage by air and to get there you will depart from the world’s biggest seaplane base. The Deshka River is a real river and not glacier fed water. Basically if there is a fish in Alaska I think you can catch it in the Deshka River at some time or another. You will get a private room in this river side lodge and eat in a nice dining room.

Kodiak Raspberry Island Remote Lodge

The Kodiak Raspberry Island Remote Lodge is located in the Kodiak Island Archipelago. You can get all inclusive packages for all kinds of fishing, sightseeing and bear watching. They combine remote Alaskan cabins with all the modern connivances. They have a custom built catamaran that can handle all your Alaskan fishing needs.
