Siamese cats are believed to be ancestors of sacred temple cats in Siam, which is present day Thailand. These cats were referred to as “Moon diamond” in Siam. They were known to keep away evil spirits and be good luck to their home owners. Siamese cats were typically seen in temples and around Royal households. These cats were first brought to the United States in 1878 when the American Consul in Bangkok gave a gift of Siamese cats to the American President at the time. The cats were then bred in the UK and spread to other sections of Asia and Europe.

The body is usually cream colored with a lighter color on the neck and belly. These cats have colored points on their ears, face, legs and tail. The points of this cat can vary in color and Siamese cats in come in seal point, chocolate point, lilac point, blue point, and flame point.
These cats are usually black and white when they are born. After they grow older, the coat transforms into darker and lighter areas and the points appear into different colors.
Siamese Cats personality

These cats are very active and playful, although they can be curious in nature and are intelligent. They can get easily bored and may be mischievous if left alone in the house for long periods of them. The homeowner may find that some of their belongings have been destroyed. Siamese cats need lots of attention and are good pets for children.
Caring for Siamese cats
The only specific care a Siamese cat needs is being bathed about twice a month and brush about once a week. Since they have short hair, the brushing should be gentle. If Siamese cats are well taken care of, they can live up to 20 years.
