When it comes to duel pubic behaviors like standing in line and driving behind the wheel, Americans display a classic schizophrenia symptom. Such unusual stark contrast of behavior patterns have long puzzled social psychologists that had still yet to scramble for a satisfactory explanation.
Resemble to a well tamed little lamb, Americans demonstrate great patient to stand in line, where bad manners of shuffling and elbow for positions are rarely seen in the public. Line simultaneously formed while they wait at bus stop, theater ticket booth or restaurant. At restaurant, patrons patiently wait for their turn to be seated without a word of complaint even their stomachs rumbling hard and yearning for an immediate piece of animal fat. Common courtesy is shown in full force when they strike up an amiable chat with other fellow patron next in line. Waiting to them is to be considered as natural as the air they breathe, a fact of life and a complete displacement virtue of self control.
However, when some of them drive behind the wheel, it is a whole different ball game. Here we see an entirely bred of habitual beyond recognition. They are irrational, impatient, menace, bully, abusive and outright rude. The reckless driving behavior is best illustrated when someone cut in front of you. You curse of their three generations………… their ” mother ” of God and concluded with a complete condemnation of his or her ” Holy Spirit “. This kind of all out road rage is uncalled for. In some cases, the seemingly minor incident could escalate into exchange of profanity, obscene gestures, stop for heated arguments or brawls. All too often it ended in tragedy with someone got shot and the other party locked up in jail for life. It is indeed quite a life changing experience in a flask of seconds. These kind of horrid incidents are not uncommon. It almost becomes a hassle every time you get behind the wheel. The underlying problem seems to be aggravated in the midst of current economic downturn and creates an unsafe driving environment.
By all means, there is a number of ways to avoid fallen as a victim of this senseless road rage if certain steps of precaution being taken.
It is always worth the trouble to plan your trip ahead to avoid being rush. That way it allows you to have ample of time to reach your destination.
The rule of thumb in driving is drive defensively. A skill driver is constantly alert of the driving environment and act accordingly to avoid unnecessary risk.
There is no hero or heroin but only victim in an enraged traffic confrontation you do would like to see your kids and your grand kids grow up. By winning a war of words or a fight does not make you a better person or enhance your ego for that matter. But the hostile encounter could have a grave consequence.

Sometimes, it is wise to play dumb and naive as a defensive mechanism to deflate unwarranted provocation. In my case, the pretense of incomprehensibly a word of English works magically. When necessary we have to act like seeing no evil, hearing no evil and carrying on with our defensive driving.
Together, equipped with the above driving mentality and observe traffic regulations, driving would not have to be hazardous to your health or your well being. It could be an enchanting and delightful experience. Most importantly, it ensures your arrival to your destination safely and soundly.
A final note, as the saying goes, human kind possesses 99 % of animal traits and the reminding one percent is human nature. You would think that the animal component responsible of all human tragedies. Think again, it is the human side that did all the irreversible damages. We do have a lot of work cut out for ‘US’.
