Sesame Place is an outstanding park for families with children aged newborn to seven years of age. The park is a Sea World theme park with the type of layout you would expect of an Orlando theme park. When I made the decision to take my twin two year old toddlers, I was delighted by their website which allowed me to book my entire trip and print out tickets prior to my visit. If you go to Sesame Place early in June, there are offers that take twenty dollars off of admission. Admission is normally about $56 for ages 2 through adult. There are usually special offers available if you dig enough on the internet to find them.
The online scheduling and booking makes the experience so much easier upon arrival. I can recommend preferred parking as it brings you much closer to the park entrance and allows you to use your own car as a locker. This is especially good for parents who have very young children and want to make clothes changes or diaper changes in their vehicle. You print your voucher and hand it to the attendant. This is also the same for the admission ticket, especially once it starts to get busy! You can print your admission tickets ahead of time and avoid the lines upon entry. This can also be done for: dining with the characters, lockers, speed passes for the rides and cabanas. It makes the experience so much more enjoyable because you don’t waste time waiting and you don’t get locked out of great experiences like dining with the Sesame Street characters.
The park has lots of water rides to cool off on. A few great rides are listed, but there lots more! Big Bird’s Rambling River is great for the whole family, with lots of spraying extras along the way and even some coconuts to drop water on you! Ernie’s Water Works is a series of pipes and gadgets that blow, spray, dump and squirt water on your tots. It is great for little ones and big alike! The Count’s Castle is a huge water slide, play park and has a tremendously huge bucket that spills loads of water on all those who dare to stand below. Sky Splash brings you and five pals underneath an eight foot rubber duckie down a slippery slide of fun! The Teeny Tiny Tidal Wave Pool is just perfect for toddlers who want to swim and cool off, but aren’t ready for the big water attractions yet!
There are lots of dry attractions for the entire family to enjoy. There is a classic carousel with a Sesame Street spin to it that is great for young and old. Along the main road, characters come out and lines form so that your family can meet all your favorites as well as take pictures. There is Elmo’s Cloud Chaser (under 42 inches can ride with an adult), Blast Off which adults can ride along with kids as you are propelled up and down, Peek a Bug and Flying Fish. Ernie’s Bed Bounce is a gigantic jumping inflatable for kids to let loose and have fun. There are lots more available and a good number of luck stands to play to win a stuffed animal.
I can not recommend more the Up Close Dining experience. This should be booked online in advance of your arrival as it tends to sell out quickly. The meal is buffet style with lots of kid friendly and healthy options to choose from. Characters like Bert and Ernie, Big Bird, Elmo, Abby and Cookie Monster come to your table to meet and greet you. A show of sorts is put on to entertain everyone while they eat. Cookie Monster then leaves cookies and ice cream at the end of the buffet for all to enjoy. The service is great, the food is good and the kids enjoy the show! You can also have your picture taken by park photographers with Elmo and purchase them at the meal. The building is air-conditioned with its own rest rooms which are a welcomed bonus.
There are some attractions where you can sit down as a family and enjoy the show too. The Elmo’s World Live Show is a continuation of Elmo’s World and will have everyone singing along. Mr. Noodle, Dorothy and a few volunteers from the audience help Elmo learn new things. Elmo Rocks is a show where everyone gets to sing, dance and enjoy some rock music with the Sesame Street gang. The Neighborhood Street Party Parade is done daily and everyone at Sesame Place is invited. The main road is shut down for the parade and all the Sesame Street pals come out on floats and with friends to light up the town. If you rent a cabana you are able to meet all of the characters 30 minutes before the parade begins, a true treat for the family!
A great, clean fun experience for everyone, this park will have you returning year after year. It is a great place to build memories have fun and enjoy some sun and fun. The admission ticket is usually a two day pass, so plan to make a trip of it and enjoy the Sesame Street neighborhood!
