A Review of Progresso Rich & Hearty Chicken Corn Chowder Flavored with Bacon

I like many Progresso brand foods and when I came across a can of Progresso Rich & Hearty Chicken Corn Chowder Flavored with Bacon in the canned soups section of my local grocery store, I was thrilled. This soup looked good! I decided to purchase it, try it and write a product review all about it. Here is what I discovered!

One can of Progresso Rich & Hearty Chicken Corn Chowder Flavored with Bacon costs two dollars and thirty cents. This soup caught my attention because it has many ingredients in it that I love. It has bacon, chicken broth, white chicken meat, potatoes, onions, celery, corn, chives, parsley, egg yolk, garlic and onion powder in it, and all of those sounded very good to me. I discovered that this soup is gluten free. Fantastic! It also has no artificial flavors in it. I could not wait to taste it.

This soup is perfect for microwave cooking and that is how I chose to prepare it. The can has an easy open flip top lid and I liked that. I poured this soup into a large microwave safe bowl, stirred, covered, heated on high for a few minutes, uncovered, stirred and served. This chowder looked great and it smelled good, too. When I tasted it, I loved it. It has lots of rich and creamy broth, lots of large chunks of white meat chicken and it has a good flavor. The bacon flavor is very subtle, but there. There is corn in this chowder, but being that it is corn chowder, I would have liked a bit more of it, honestly. There was just the right amount of potatoes in this soup and I appreciated it. Overall, this soup is great and I would buy it again. I rate it four stars out of five stars. It is a winner. I do like to add crackers to this chowder.

One serving of Progresso Rich & Hearty Chicken Corn Chowder Flavored with Bacon has only 200 calories in it. Not bad. 80 of those calories are from fat. I loved trying Progresso Rich & Hearty Chicken Corn Chowder Flavored with Bacon and writing a food product review about it. It is delicious and affordable. A fun and quick lunch choice for me. Even though the sodium content is high, if you are not having to watch your salt intake, this chowder is great. Maybe Progresso will take the hint and start adding natural sea salt to their soups.
