A Review of Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken Dinner: Only 210 Calories

I like many of Lean Cuisine’s brand frozen meals. Recently, I came across Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken Dinner, in the frozen dinners section at my favorite local grocery store. It did tempt me. I decided to purchase this meal, try it out and write a product review all about the experience. Here is what I discovered!

Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken Dinner costs around two dollars and fifty cents. This meal has roasted chicken tenderloins, rice pilaf, mushrooms, green beans, onions, spices, herbs and a glaze type of sauce, among other ingredients, in it. That all sounded great to me. This dinner is very low in calories. It is also preservative free and I liked that fact. It is low in saturated fat and low in sodium. I discovered that it has lots of protein in it. It equals only four weight watchers points, according to Nestle’s calculations. Not bad.

This meal is perfect for microwave cooking and that is how I chose to prepare it. I placed the microwave safe tray in my microwave, cooked on high for five minutes and thirty seconds then let it stand for two more minutes before serving, to complete the cooking process. This dinner looked very good, but I noticed that it did not have the tantalizing aroma that I am used to, from many Lean cuisine meals.

When I tasted Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken Dinner, I liked the chicken tenderloins, glaze and mushrooms very much. They were absolutely yummy. The rice pilaf with green beans, however, was quite flavorless. Really bland and very disappointing, in my opinion. Yes, there was a large helping of the rice but, it lacked taste. Totally. Also, though there were plenty of large chicken tenderloins in this meal, there should have been more glaze sauce. Overall, the entree is great, very delicious. I could have done without the tasteless rice side dish. On a bright note, this meal is very filling. I rate it three stars out of five stars. I probably will not buy it again unless they add a different side dish to it.

This dinner has only 210 calories and that is wonderful. Just 25 of those calories come from fat. It has 2.5 grams of total fat, wow, 0 grams of saturated fat, yay, 0 grams of trans fat, 1 gram of polyunsaturated fat, 1 gram of monounsaturated fat, 35 mg’s of cholesterol, 400 mg’s of sodium, not bad, 330 mg’s of potassium, 29 grams of total carbs, 0 grams of dietary fiber, 6 grams of sugars and 17 grams of protein. This dinner does not have much in the way of vitamins in. A small amount of vitamin C. This product does contain milk ingredients. It is a very diet friendly quick meal choice.

It was interesting trying Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken Dinner and writing a product review about it. A great entree with a sad side dish, but they can’t all be winners. For more information, you can visit the leancuisine.com website.
