A Review of Dole Classic Iceberg Salad Mix: 15 Calories Per Serving

I am a long time Dole brand foods product fan. When I spotted a large bag of Dole Classic Iceberg Salad Mix, in the refrigerated salad mixes section of my local favorite grocery store, I was intrigued. I decided to buy this item, try it out and write an unbiased product review all about my personal experience with it. Here is what I discovered!

Dole Classic Iceberg Salad Mix is affordable. Still, it does cost a bit more than other salad mixes, I noticed. I purchased a bag for a bit over three dollars. Compared to the store name brands, this salad mix was more costly. I wondered about that, but I still bought. The Dole name brand was a factor in that decision. I assumed that this salad mix would be superior to other brands. This salad mix has iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots and red cabbage in it. An interesting and veggie friendly combination, in my opinion. This product is low cal, cholesterol free and fat free. I liked those diet friendly facts. I could not wait to taste this salad mix. One bag has four servings in it.

I tossed a large salad with this salad mix. I added green olives, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese and chopped boiled eggs to it, along with a light ranch salad dressing. I served. This salad mix was delicious and I enjoyed it. It is fresh tasting, flavorful and hearty. This item saves me time spent in my kitchen and I love that fact. All my guests enjoyed this salad mix and had rave reviews for it. I agreed with them. It was a delicious fresh tasting quick serve food item. I had a bit of the salad mix left over and I refrigerated it for the next day. That is when I ran into problems. This salad mix does not last long in the refrigerator. A few days and it is done. Just so you are aware. For a quick serve salad, it is great. But, it does not last long in a refrigerator, let me tell you. Be prepared to serve this salad mix within a few days of purchasing. It’s shelf life is short.

I rate Dole Classic Iceberg Salad Mix three stars out of five stars. Quite frankly, I have had store brand salad mixes that outperform this one, at less cost. Just saying. If you plan to serve it immediately, it works. I discovered that one serving has only 15 calories in it. 0 of those calories are from fat. One serving has 0 grams of total fat, yay, 0 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 0 mg’s of cholesterol, 15 mg’s of sodium, 4 grams of total carbs, 1 gram of dietary fiber, 2 grams of sugars and 1 gram of protein. This mix has lots of vitamins A, C and K in it Wonderful! This product states that for best freshness, you must use within two days. I agree. Sadly, other cheaper brands of salad mix last for a full week in the refrigerator. Just FYI.

I enjoyed trying Dole Classic Iceberg Salad Mix and writing a product review about it. Use fast, this one does not last. As long as you remember that, you are ok with this product. Still, I like a salad mix that will last at least five days and Publix salad mixes do. Just saying. They are cheaper, too. Dole salad mix is preservative free, all natural and thoroughly washed.
