Washington D.C. is the capital of the United States of America. It is the primary headquarters to many shrines and museums, as well as, trade alliances, foyer groups, and professional associations. Washington D.C. is also home to some of the best restaurants in the world today, including some of America’s finest vegetarian eateries. I have decided to narrow down the various vegetarian restaurants in the Washington D.C. to only the best.
Vegetarian food is amazing! In between James Madison and Glengyle Drive on 2531 Chain Bridge Road in Vienna lies one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Washington D.C., the Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant. With everything from Soups, salads, and sushi to an array of specials including an array of pastas and entrees, you are destined to not only love this vegetarian eatery, but appreciation much more so. I have tried everything from the noodles to the entrees and more and I have discovered that I truly love the “General Tso’s Surprise” which is a vegetarian take on the popular Chinese dish. Sushi combo boxes are less than $10, which makes this vegetarian restaurant affordable. There is a lot of Asian food here, however; there are many things that are not, as well. Desserts are also available. One of my favorites is definitely the “Organic Almond & Blueberry Jelly Pie”. The ambiance is rather traditional. It is not pristine nor art deco. In fact, if you are looking for an environment that is clean, with a home-style feel, you are going to like the Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant. Gluten-free items are also available. Prices start at just $1.50 and go up to $12. Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 am until 10 pm and on Sunday from noon until 10 pm. I remember when I first became a vegetarian, I was a lot younger, but less wiser. I never did my research when I traveled, so I always found myself wondering “Where can I eat?”. If you are looking to enjoy great vegetarian food, I definitely think you have to eat at Maoz Vegetarian. Located in heart of Washington D.C. on 1817 M St. NW in between 18th and 19th St. NW lies one of the best vegetarian restaurants in D.C. Maoz Vegetarian’s cuisine is heavily inspired by the Middle East. With everything from Soups, Salads, and Sandwiches to Sides and Specials, you will not make a mistake eating at Maoz. I love to purchase the “meal deal special” which consists of a Maoz sandwich, eggplant & hummus, Belgian fries, and a drink. The prices are relatively reasonable. Although the environment here is simple, it is rather small for a restaurant, so it is best to just get your food to go. I love this place because it’s open really late, so it’s convenient if you are going out or staying in and want to enjoy Middle Eastern influenced vegetarian food. Maoz Vegetarian is open Monday through Thursday from 11 am until 11 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11 am until 3 am, and Sunday 12 pm to 9 pm. For more information about Maoz Vegetarian, just call: (202) 290-3117 or visit http://www.maozusa.com right now. Vegetarian food never tasted so good. Once you go Vegetarian, you just won’t eat meat again?
Searching for great vegetarian food should in no way occupy your time or your patience. Once you discover that good vegetarian food does exist, especially in Washington D.C. you don’t have to spend countless hours debating where to go and what to eat. On 1020 19th St. NW in between 18th Street and K + L Street lies the Java Green Organic Eco Café. With everything from fresh sandwiches to fresh wraps to fresh soups and salads, among other things, you can’t go wrong with this wonderful vegetarian eating place. Some of my favorite vegetarian foods at this fine eatery are the “Fresh Mozzarella Organic Wrap” or the “Veg Max Sandwich” (and sometimes I like to get an extra topping or two on it). I also love the “Java California Sandwich”. The Java Green Organic Café emphasizes on the organic concept, so everything you eat here is incredibly fresh and free of lab created preservatives. I love this café because it is simple. It is a nice place, but it’s relatively convenient and it is close to 3 of D.C’s major metros. Gluten-free is definitely popular here. Delivery, as well as, catering is also available. Java Green Organic Eco Café is open Monday from 8 am until 7 pm. Discovering a good vegetarian restaurant is moderately rare. However; despite being uncommon, it does exist. Located on 1438 Wisconsin Avenue NW in between O and P St. lies one of the best vegetarian restaurants in America’s capital, Avocado Café. With everything from Salads and Sandwiches to Wraps and Rollups and much more, you will love the Avocado Café. The food at the Avocado Café is influenced by the Middle East, however; there are an array of things that are inspired by other cuisines. The last time that I visited the Avocado Café, I ordered the “Spinach & Goat Cheese Wrap” for just $6.99 with a “Cannoli” for dessert. I also enjoyed a “Pomegranate Punch” smoothie with my meal, which make it even better. They make great NY Style pizza here. Prices start at just 85 cents and go up to $15. Delivery is available. Catering services are also available. You also have the option of ordering online, if you have the internet. I love the Avocado Café because it is open longer than any other vegetarian restaurant that I have been to in the D.C. area while possessing fantastic food, as a result. If you visit this vegetarian restaurant with someone who eats meat, more than likely they will find something to enjoy, as there are a few things on the menu. The Avocado Café is open Daily from 11 am until 4 am. For more information, just call: (202) 337-5115 or visit http://www.avocadocafedc.com right now. The next time that I visit D.C. I am going to definitely hit up the Avocado Café. Who would have ever guessed that some of the best vegetarian food in D.C. would have the fruit/vegetable “Avocado” in the title.
I remember my last time visiting a big city. I was unaware of the vegetarian restaurants available, as well as, the vegetarian friendly foods available and found myself contemplating over several food decisions. It is always nice to be prepared when traveling to any major city because sometimes vegetarian restaurants are not within reach. Located in the heart of Washington D.C. on 2101 L St. NW lies one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Washington, D.C., Litestars. Litestars is known for having great soup, however; their biggest creation is their tarlets. I absolutely love them and if I had to choose a favorite, I would definitely say the “Zucchini Tarlet”. The smoothies are amazing here and I find myself enjoying the “Blueberry Smoothie” the best. This vegetarian eatery also allows you to enjoy many options that are gluten-free. The atmosphere is rather reserved, yet simple. Litestars is open Monday through Friday from 7 am until 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am until 6 pm. With a population of over 5 million, Washington D.C. remains to be one of America’s biggest cities. As we know, with every big city, a great restaurant usually follows, as a result. Finding a vegetarian eatery should never be overwhelming or lingering and with this guide, it doesn’t have to ever be.
