April 22nd is Earth Day and it should be a day of reflection and a time to raise awareness for protecting our planet. On this day we are called to make a commitment to protect our environment. This modern day environmental movement began over 40 years ago. It led people to join forces and demonstrate their commitment to our planet. I would say that we have to transform our reality and cooperate in protecting our natural resources. I urge you to celebrate our planet by attending one of many events taking place in Miami, Florida. Earth Day Festival / Pinecrest, Florida – Pinecrest Gardens (the former site of Parrot Jungle) At this event you will be able to check out green vendor booths, eco-friendly workshops and informative presentations. There will be food and entertainment for all. Call 305-234-2121 for more information.
Sunday, April 17, 2011, 11 am – 4 pm
Earth Day celebration at Barnacle State Park
This event will feature businesses and groups working at going green, there will be lots of environmental activities, games.and things for all to do. Don’t forget your own picnic basket, but if you should decide to eat at the park, there will a good assortment of snacks and grill foods, hamburgers, hot dogs and veggie dogs from vendors. Get ready to enjoy some live music by Lenny Batista from 12pm to 3pm. No alcohol or pets will be allowed,so make sure that you leave then at home. A fee of $2.00 will charged for those ages 6 and up. Earth Day festival at Crandon Park
This will be a day for the whole family to enjoy, there will be a nature workshop, organic and vegetarian foods to enjoy, an Eco adventure game, tram tours and nature walks So get ready to have fun. Take some time out to relax and enjoy yourself. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the concert and please don’t forget to bring any electronic items for recycling.
