The 7″ tablets have come to be quite popular and the Samsung Galaxy 7″ tablet is in my opinion one of the best on the market right now. I almost think of it as a portable computer because with all its functionality and ease of use, it’s like having my own little computer right with me in my purse. It comes with Internet access, 1GHZ processor and good storage with 16 GB of micro SD memory. Here are some of the main reasons I’m glad I bought this tablet.
It is important for me to be able to carry this tablet with me and because of its size it can fit easily in a small tote bag or my purse. It weighs less than 14 ounces and even with the carrying case (which has to be purchased separately), I still did not find it to be too cumbersome to carry with me every day.
The touch screen on the Samsung Galaxy responds quickly and you don’t have to press the screen repeatedly or press excessively hard to get it to respond. Changing pages regardless of direction is smooth and easy to do.
3) Screen resolution
Many tablets on the marker today give poor screen quality because of the low resolution. The Galaxy offers a 1024 x 600 pixel screen. You will be impressed with the richness and depth of color especially for your pictures and videos. I love the accelerator which allows me to view in either portrait or landscape mode. The unit itself measures approximately 7-1/2″ by 4-1/2 inches, which is adequate visibility for my eyes.
4) Android 2.2 Platform
Using an Android 2.2 system was a good relief for me after dealing with Apple iTunes for my iPod. Transferring multimedia files from my laptop to my Samsung Galaxy is simple and quick and it doesn’t feel like a long drawn-out process.
5) Battery life
You will get good battery life out of the Samsung Galaxy Tablet. I can run my device about 7 to 8 hours, depending on what programs I have running.
The Samsung Tab is equipped with wireless connection either with Wi-Fi or with 3G (if you choose to get the contract). I didn’t want or need the contract. The offer for it is still in the system though if you change your mind and decide you want it later. The Galaxy tab allows you to easily get on the Internet. It works quite well for browsing and loads quickly. It also has a voice activation feature for doing web searches, a feature I’m quite fond of.
The Galaxy Tablet is moderately priced, less than the Apple iPad. I paid $549.00 for mine which I thought was quite reasonable compared to the up-to-$700 price tag I saw on some other tablets. You can find cheaper tablets, but you will get what you pay for. Some companies such as Verizon and Sprint are offering a discount for the Samsung Galaxy Tablet if you contract with them for their 3G service but I did not want to do that. I am able to use all the features of my Galaxy without having to pay the monthly fee for the 3G service.
The Galaxy tablet comes with both a front and rear camera, although with its size it is a little clumsy to use in place of a camera. I haven’t tried the video conferencing ability for the front camera because I just don’t have a need for that feature, but I have taken some fairly decent pictures with the rear camera though. It does, of course, have limited real “camera” functions, so it won’t ever replace my Nikon.
This unit also makes an excellent eReader. It comes with Amazon Kindle reader but you can add any eReader you need to. I’ve gotten a lot of use of out of the Galaxy for just the eReader feature alone.
Although many people complain that this tablet has limited applications, I was quite pleased with the amount and variety of applications that came with my Samsung Galaxy. I think it’s just a matter of what your expectations are and what you are in need of. There’s everything here including messaging, news and weather, voice search, maps, media hub, alarm clock, Gmail, You Tube, and much more. You can add just about anything to your tablet in just a few moments.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Tablet offers a quality product with this 7″ tablet, one you will be pleased with. As with all of these devices, satisfaction will be based on what you’re looking for in performance, features and price. I mainly wanted a tablet that functioned easily and sensibly. I didn’t want to spend a lot of time fighting with a device that brought me more misery than enjoyment. I find this tablet easy to use and would highly recommend it.
