FIRST PERSON | As a Harry Potter fanatic, I was very gleeful and happy when I heard the news that author J.K. Rowling will continue her critically acclaimed and widely popular book and movie franchise with the website Pottermore. Although fans are currently unable to enter the website, they are most likely highly anticipating the debut of the site in October. Among the many fantastic and spellbinding features, followers of Harry Potter will be able to learn more about the life of Rowling and her take on the popular franchise, become a virtual member of Hogwarts and have access to an online version of the novel “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”
As one of the many millions of fans of Rowling and her ingenious novels, I have noted three top features of the website that I am looking forward to exploring.
Excellent opportunity for me to collaborate with other fans
Since the first book was published in 1997, I have read all seven books and watched the seven highly enjoyable films. With the last film only weeks away, I am a little gloomy that Rowling will not release any more novels and that there will not be any more films after the second part of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”
One way that I will maintain interest in my favorite fantasy series is by connecting with other fans and participating in the various games on the website. In addition, I hope that there will be an events page on the site, as some of my favorite childhood moments were when I waited in long midnight lines before each novel was released to the public.
Learning more about the adventures of Harry Potter
Although Rowling has announced in the past that she will not publish any more novels about Harry Potter, it has been reported that the famous author will release additional material about the characters, fictitious buildings and places and storylines that she has invented throughout the years. As a fan of Rowling and her work, being able to learn and read more about Harry is very exciting.
Being recruited into the Slytherin House
Although one can assume that many fans will want to be recruited to the Gryffindor House, I have always had a strong interest in the Slytherin House, even though it is the former residence of Tom Riddle. As a feature of the website, I am looking forward to being virtually recruited into one of the infamous places in the Harry Potter world.
