Spring Festivals Temecula-Menifee-Hemet
Spring is here! The sun does not set till 8 o’clock and weather is warming up (hopefully it will not be too hot this year) and there are many local festivals for you and your family to attend.
Ramona Pageant Since 1923 the City of San Jacinto and Hemet have hosted the Ramona Pageant in the natural “no-stage” setting of the Ramona bowl. Over 400 volunteers put on the play portraying the love story of Ramona and Alessandro, as well as the lives of mission-era Indians and Hispanics in the late 1800’s. Performances are from 3:00pm-5:30pm on April 16 &17, April 30, May 1 & May 7, 2011. Tickets range from $34 to $49 and $28 for groups of 20 or more. For more information, call 951-658-3111. Murrieta Fire Department’s 64th Annual Barbeque Bring the family out on Saturday, April 17, 2011 from 11:30am-4:30pm for a fun filled afternoon of food, arts and crafts booths and party jumpers for the kids. You can also take the kids on a tour of the fire station, as well as many antique fire trucks. More than 2,500 people are expected to attend the event, and the fire department is prepared with more than 2,000 pounds of meet to barbeque. Family Fun Kite Night – Moms and dads bring the kids and their kites to Ronald Reagan Sports Park on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 6:30-8:00pm for a kite-flying contest. Kids can win prizes, enjoy snacks or make crafts. If you do not have a kite their will be plenty for sale by local vendors. Beaumont Cherry Festival This four day family event has been going on the last 90 years and features carnival rides, a parade, vendor booths, food, live music and of course lots of cherries! The event takes place June 2, through June 5, 2011. Also, there is a car and motorcycle show on Saturday, May 28th from 10:00am-2:00pm. This event attracts more than 70,000 people, but don’t worry about parking, the City of Beaumont is offering free shuttle service to and from alternate parking locations. Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival Since 1984, the Balloon and Wine Festival has welcomed patrons to view over 60 hot air balloons, live music, a country fair and wine and food tasting. The three-day event, June 3-5, 2011, is held at Lake Skinner in Temecula and attracts nearly 45,000 people. The most popular attractions are: the hot air balloon launch in the early mornings, International Wine and Cheese Garden– an array of the finest premium wines, cheese and specialty foods– and of course the live music. 41st Annual Father’s Day Car Show Take dad or grandpa out on Sunday, June 19, 2011 from 6:30am-2:00pm at Cal Oaks Sports Park to view over 350 pre-1980 cars. City of Murrieta Birthday Bash The City of Murrieta is turning 20 and celebrating with live music, rides and fireworks show! The birthday bash will be held at California Sports Park on June 25, 2011 from 2:00pm-9:00pm. Plan to get wet at 4:00pm during the Fireman’s hosedown-the fire department will spray the crowd from the top of the engines rescue ladder. This is a family friendly event so smoking and alcohol will not be permitted. Also, since there is a fireworks show pets will not be able to join in on the festivities.
