2011 NBA Playoff Scores and Results – Live Updates, Final Scores & Top Performances

The first round of the 2011 NBA playoffs is in the books, and the Eastern and Western Conference semifinal rounds begin today, Sunday, May 1st. There are two games on tap today – Memphis at Oklahoma City starts at 1 pm ET, and the tip off of the first game of the much-anticipated Boston vs Miami playoff series is set for 3:30 pm ET. See below for complete second round NBA playoff scores, results and summaries.

The 2011 NBA playoffs are especially exciting as there is no strong favorite this year. The No. 1 seed in the East, Chicago, had a sparkling regular season record of 62-20, but looked a bit sluggish in their first round series with the Pacers. And both Miami and Boston are laden with playoff experienced veterans, but only one can advance to the Eastern Conference finals. The No. 1 seed Spurs were knocked off already in the West, and while you have to say that makes the Lakers the favorite, it is still a wide open field with all four teams having the talent to get the job done.

The first round of the 2011 playoffs only produced one upset of note, but it was a big one, with the No. 8 seed Memphis Grizzlies knocking off the No. 1 seed San Antonio Spurs. It was only the second time in NBA history that a No. 1 seed was knocked off by a No. 8, but several NBA pundits had mentioned that San Antonio was possibly a vulnerable favorite and they were spot on as Tim Duncan and Tony Parker could not get it done without a healthy Manu Ginobli. The rest of the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, including Chicago, LA and Miami, advanced and it looks like the conference semifinal round is going to be where the wheat is separated from the chaff.
