Summerfield Memorial Day Parade
Summerfield North, a friendly neighborhood in North Raleigh, has an exciting Memorial Day planned for children. A Memorial Day parade will be held on Memorial Day Monday. The parade will have police cars, fire trucks, classic cars, local mascots like Wool E Bull, Chik-Fil-A Cow, and Muddy Mudcat. The Sanderson Marching Band will also render music during the parade. Following the parade, the Summerfield North Stingrays will have food, games, and prizes at the neighborhood’s pool. Don’t forget sunblock and swimwear.
An American Celebration
On Sunday, May 29 at 7:30 pm the Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary, North Carolina will host a concert of American music, patriotic selections, marches, and a dance performance. The event features the Concert Singers of Cary and the Triangle Wind Ensemble. Irish Step Dancers from Cary and Raleigh dance schools are also scheduled to perform. General admission for this outdoor event is $15 for lawn tickets, $25 for table seats, and free for kids 12 and under. Students and senior citizens are eligible for a generous discount for $12 lawn tickets. Don’t forget it is an outdoor event, so bring a blanket, lawn chair, sweater, and a picnic.
Raleigh “City of Oaks” Historic Walking Tour
A professionally guided tour of the historic sites in Raleigh, North Carolina will start at the State Capitol near the Presidential Monument. Guests should dress appropriately for a 1.5 mile walk that will be a fun learning experience. The tour is available all year on Saturdays & Sundays, but Memorial Day weekend will be the perfect time for the family. The cost for adults is $12 and $8 for children 13 and under.
6th Annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend
Don’t let the children miss out on the 6th Annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend. Families and children will enjoy this patriotic event. The parade starts on May 7 at 10 am on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Memorial Service will be held at Nash Square on May 1 at 1:00 pm. The Fallen Firefighters event honors the efforts and risks firefighters take to save lives. Let your child take pictures with one of the soldiers.
