2011 Memorial Day Celebrations in Denver

Memorial Day in Denver includes both reflections and celebrations. It can be somber or lively. Most people celebrate by honoring fallen heroes and visiting graves of veteran family members. Memorial Day weather is also conducive to early spring picnics and family fun. It’s a way to remember what veterans are fighting for. Here in Denver, there are several events and festivals planned for Memorial Day weekend including a parade of tribute.

Denver 2011 Memorial Day Parade – Be sure to wear your red, white and blue for this parade. The parade honors veterans who have given their lives in service to our country. Protests are not allowed out of respect for those brave individuals. Look for drill teams and military units to join the parade. It begins at Civic Center Park 10:00 am Saturday, May 28. A tribute follows at the Veterans Monument.

Boulder Creek Festival– Kick off the beginning of summer by attending this traditional Memorial Day weekend celebration. The highlight is the rubber ducky race. Participants cast rubber duckies into Boulder Creek in a race for the finish line. The Boulder Creek Festival is a weekend long event of food and fun.

Dining Out for Life– Be sure to Dine Out for Life before or after your Memorial Day celebrations. Participating Denver restaurants will donate 25% of their sales to Project Angel Heart. Honor Veterans on Memorial Day by contributing to a great cause. You were planning on eating out anyway. Why not choose one of the over 300 restaurants that will be making a difference on Memorial Day?

Downtown Denver Arts Festival – This is a wonderful opportunity to see what Denver artists have to offer. Here you’ll find every medium and style of art under the Denver sun. Why not support local artists and spruce up your home at the same time? Stroll on down to the Denver Pavilions for this weekend-long event after Saturday’s Memorial Day Parade.

Denver Day of Rock – The Denver Day of Rock is just another great reason to spend memorial Day in Downtown Denver. Look for over 20 bands performing on stages all over Downtown Denver. It’s not just about rock and roll. Bands of every genre, local, regional and national will be performing. Now you’ve got something to listen to on your way to the Downtown Denver Arts Festival.
