Pennsylvania-based company 215 Racing Inc. is a new player in the supercar market and they’ve got big ambitions. The company has just announced that it gained the rights to build a production version of the Lamborghini Indomable Concept. The concept was created by a Daniel Chinchilla during a Masters Program powered by Lamborghini. And while the Italian carmaker didn’t consider the concept, the American company was more than thrilled to turn the concept into reality and make a strong debut in the supercar world.
“We knew that entering a market as a new supercar company has become a rarely successful trend. We hope to make our niche by offering the customers something they could never imagine,” said Anthony Crudup, Chief Executive Officer, 215 Racing/ Mostro Di-Potenza.
According to statements from company’s officials, the car will bear a new name, the SF22 and will be produced by a sub-company of 215 Racing, called Mostro Di-Potenza. Considering this is Italian for “Monster of Power”, the company definitely has our attention. Now all it has to do is deliver, because, as we saw in the past, launching a new car company is nothing but easy and many carmaker went into bankruptcy long before their car even had a chance to start doing test laps.
So let’s see what the Mostro Di-Potenza SF22 will look like. Under the bonnet, a heavily upgraded V8 engine is expected to produce somewhere around 2000 hp and 2000 Nm of torque. You have to admit, this definitely caught your attention, right? To create this ridiculous power, the car will feature huge front air intake, a Carbon fiber and Kevlar mix for the body and mechanical highlights include a six-speed sequential transmission, huge 14-inch brake discs with 6-piston calipers and airspeed adjustable intercoolers.
One particular challenge the company had to face was restyling the concept, because they didn’t want people to think it was just a Lamborghini copy, so they had the original designer, Daniel Chinchilla modify the design. Will he manage to do that? Well, the car will probably still hold a strong Lamborghini feeling and it will be pretty difficult to get away from that.
And what way to draw attention to your upcoming car other than challenging the current heavyweight champion, a title currently owned by the Bugatti Veyron. With these impressive numbers, 215 Racing hopes to take the crown away from the French monster.
“We think it’s time for the Bugatti Veyron to pass the top speed production car crown to us. They have held it for 10 years! But that is not our primary focus, we want to give the owner something that can only come from Mostro and I think we nailed it with this design. Also 70% of all our vendors are American Companies and we pride ourselves on keeping our fingers on the pulse of the newest and most innovative automotive technology the industry has to offer,” said A. Crudup in the press release.
According to 215 Racing, the Mostro Di-Potenza is scheduled to enter production next year, at the company manufacturing facility in Philadelphia and they’re hoping to build around 2 units per month. Will they do it? We’re pretty skeptical but still, we’re keeping our fingers crossed and hope that one day we’ll see this car on the streets.
