If you are a new small business owner or an upcoming web developer and you have a website & want to increase traffic to your store or e-store. I have here 12 simple & “somewhat” easy ways to promote your business or website GUARANTEED. (NO 30 day money back either because its free..lol) But all jokes aside if you follow steps 1 through 12 closely & carefully I assure you will see a significant traffic increase…. I numbered the steps in a strategic order according to cost, meaning the first few steps I show you free ways to promote your business or website. The rest are highly effective ways to promote but you might have to go in your pockets a little, but hey sometimes you gotta spend money to make money right? Now lets get into it….
1. KNOW YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE
OK….. This is the most important step right here, without it the rest of the steps won’t make sense nor will they work…
KNOW YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE; WHO YOU’RE SELLING IT TO; AND WHO YOU WANT TO SELL IT TO
Now what i mean by that is. A product or service is much easier to promote or sell to someone if you know everything about it yourself first hand, how it works, benefits, pros & cons, etc… Now if you know & love the product or service you’re promoting and are passionate about it because you’re living proof that it works or can VOUCH for it, the damn thing will practically sell it self! Plus it would make explaining things to “potential customers” A LOT easier.. Knowing who to sell it to or want to sell to is fairly simple too, just ask yourself what do i have for sale? and who will be interested? For instance you have a restaurant that serves mainly steaks, pork, so on & so forth; Vegetarians & Highly religious people are probably not the people you wanna talk to or try and target when promoting your business or website…Follow me?… So do some research on your “target market/ demographic” or target audience”… Is it older people, teenagers, little kids, male, female, dog owners, cat owners, age groups, 13-16, 18-24, 25 -35 or 35-55, you know stuff like that…..Just do a little research & you’ll be fine..
Oh yeah good old fashion foot work…..get out there! The business isn’t gonna promote itself.. Print up a couple hundred fliers & pass em out, get the word out that there’s a new sheriff in town & he/she is here to stay..lol…Pass them out to people, put them in between windshield wipers of cars, (a lot of people hate that so be careful, but some people don’t mind either) ask local shops if you can pass fliers out to their customers or even put one or two up in their shop if its OK with the owner.. Don’t over do it either( a little exposure is better than no exposure)….. And one last very important key factor you have to remember when it comes to this step and it plugs back into step 1..Try & stick to you “targeted demographic” in other words don’t go passing out fliers for your new lingerie store in the church parking lot on bingo night…i don’t see that ending too well..lol … Stick to “your script”, Go places where people would be interested in what you have to offer..Ask yourself “Where do “THEY”… (your target market) hang out?” and promote yourself there..
3. WORD OF MOUTH
Another old fashion goodie but it is still one of the best ways to promote your business or website. Tell somebody that knows somebody then tell that person to tell someone else..lol…Word of mouth is one of the best ways to get yourself out there because its more personal and is more likely you will get repeat or even new customers through word of mouth. “Let customers bring customers”
Yes i said You tube…Upload a video..Believe it or not in this day & age Internet promotion is the best & i stress the best way to promote yourself nowadays I kid you not. You get to not only touch the U.S. market but you also get to reach out into the Global marketplace with the Internet, that’s why its called the “world wide web”. If you don’t understand how important this concept is let me give you an example : Someone from Europe stumbles across your video/ad on line right??…. & it interests he or she, the next time HE or SHE is in the states visiting or touring the country they may just remember your video/ad & may want to stop by and take a look see & experience your business up close & personal and see what its all about….. Some one from Europe!! That out of country business is like no other.. Keep the video creative but not cheesy, a simple banner with your business name, location, & contact info might just do the trick, sometimes less is more. Take advantage
5. SALES SPIDER FOR BUSINESS OWNERS
Not too many people have heard of this site, but its up & coming, shows a lot of promise, and its another way to promote your business or website. It gets heavy traffic and it is somewhat of a social network but its tailored for business minded people like yourself. What the site offers is it allows you to post a free classified ad in your city, and with that ad you can describe your business, where you’re located, etc… It also allows you to link people to your business or website by letting you put you’re URL for the business or website up there (not any other sites BUT your own for all my affiliates out there…lol). What’s so unique and beneficial about this website is that it tries to only send you traffic relevant to what type of business you’re in, which in turn means better chances for potential customers.
6. SOCIAL NETWORKING
Get out and mingle. Cyber mingle i mean…Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, etc..Create a following, make new friends, socialize, and make meaningful relationships because people are more likely to buy from you if they trust you..Like i said before Internet is the new wave and new outlet to promote yourself, so get hip to it now because this is where almost EVERYTHING is headed. Have you noticed you can’t apply for a job on paper anymore?? Think about it……..
7. SUBMIT AN ARTICLE
Many websites, mainly blogs have places on them where they allow you to sign up & submit an article and when you finish writing your article they may allow you to back link it to your business site or your website. And the cool thing about that is if your article is good and gets a lot of reads they might keep it running in syndication… That means checks for life baby!! Also a word of advice keep the content related to what you are promoting or selling…No one likes a spammer.
8. TRADE TRAFFIC
Pretty self explanatory..Many websites offer traffic trade, mainly blogs, and in exchange for you putting one of your links or banners somewhere on their website you in return put one of their links or banners on your website. Simple & effective because if they get a ton of views SO WILL YOU.. Also stick to your “targeted audience” on this one too. Don’t go promote meat products on vegan sites!
9. GO GREEN
Quite simple & it is attractive to today’s consumers. How do you go green?? By going paperless.. How do you go paperless? One word……Pay Pal… If you have an on line store Pay Pal is your friend. This can ring true even if you have a physical business as well. For those of you who don’t know what Pay Pal is, its a service that enables a person to send and receive payments over the Internet when selling or purchasing goods or services or making on line donations. Pay Pal prides itself in being secure, and most on line services accept payment through Pay Pal. It also has a feature where you can e – mail electronic invoices to your customers..YES e-Voices!!..lol…So yeah Pay Pal is great and it makes the shopping experience much easier for you and the consumer.
10. Promote With E – Mail Marketing
Very simple & effective if done correctly.. You want repeat customers to your business or website right? Then what better way than to keep them coming back by email them coupons, discounts, etc.. All you have to do is request an email address from them & “ASK” them if they want to receive these offers from you. I stress the word ASK because people can give you their e -mail & not care about it, but if you just start e-mailing them offers without consent they will probably mark you as spam, and you do not i repeat DO NOT want to be on someones spam list. That’s bad for business. So politely ask & confirm.
11. T- Shirts, Banners, & Logo’s
Once you have branded yourself & created a name that fits, you want everybody to see it & be a part of it. Right?.. So what better way then to put your brand everywhere with t-shirts, banners, signs, hats. etc..I mean if you want you can go as far as to get your car graphically designed with your business or website logo on it ( this is where a little money is coming out the pockets) but it will definitely pay off if you do right. Stick to your target market & logo colors and you should be fine…. Get started by getting some business cards first that is an important step.
12. Newspaper, Radio, & T.V. Promotion
& Finally STEP 12….. Here’s where the money spending comes in… But shoot if you followed steps 1-8 you should be earning some good money by now!..This is where you are going big by getting yourself out there and becoming a household name now. Search & find a newspaper that gets heavy circulation ( a lot of readers) and buy some ad space; or you can start small first and promote your business in the classifieds. Next get yourself a 30 second spot on the radio and tell people about the business, what it is you do or specialize in, where you’re located, etc….(That’s if they haven’t heard about you already)… I think a 30 second spot nowadays is something like a couple 100 bucks depends on what time you choose for it to air and all that. Also depends on the area in which you live & the popularity of that station, so it might get a little more expensive. But that’s what you want because you know for a fact people are listening!! So contact your local radio station for more details. (Google them if you don’t know..) And last but certainly not least ” The Big Screen” ;……Television. Get yourself some ad space on your local T.V. stations. and do this first because there cheaper, then you can go a little further with cable & all that if necessary. Contact your cable company or satellite provider for more info…But by now everybody probably heard about you already..lol..( If you follow my steps and promote it correctly)
Now.. you have all the KEY steps you need to promote your business, increases traffic and gain more sales & recognition…Please Do Not try and do all of these at once because chances are you can get in way over your head. But if you focus on maybe 1-2 steps every week repeatedly, you will grow your business gradually & with a very strong foundation.
